ADRIENNE Y. SHIMONISHI ELKIND, an associate of the firm, concentrates her practice in the areas of commercial leasing and general real estate law. She has also practiced in the areas of business, banking and finance, and construction law. Examples of her work include the following:

• Commercial Leasing: Ms. Elkind has represented landlords and tenants in various leasing transactions involving retail centers, industrial/warehouse facilities, office buildings and residential properties. Her work experience includes drafting and/or negotiating leases, license agreements, subleases, assignments, consents and client forms and assisting and advising clients on leasing disputes and issues in related areas of law. Examples of clients represented include Victoria Ward, Limited and Kaneohe Ranch.
  
  
• General Real Estate Law: Ms. Elkind has assisted developers with federal and state subdivision registrations and has assisted various entities and individuals in development and project financing matters, the purchase and sale of properties, encroachment and easement matters, foreclosures and other real estate matters. Examples of clients represented include Castle & Cooke and Bank of Hawaii.
  
  
• Business Law and Banking and Finance Law: Ms. Elkind has assisted clients with the creation of limited liability companies and other business-related matters. She has also represented banking and financial institutions and other lenders in documenting and analyzing various transactions, including secured loan transactions.
  
  
• Construction Law: Ms. Elkind has represented contractors in mechanic’s lien and other payment disputes.

Ms. Elkind attended the University of Southern California Law School where she was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award in Contracts I and was a member and the Managing Editor of the Southern California Interdisciplinary Law Journal. After her first year of law school, Ms. Elkind served as an extern to the Honorable Morio L. Fukuto of the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District.
